Out on the bike again

Tuesday, December 9th, 2008

It feels great to be back in Perth again. Arrived back last Friday and one of the first things I wanted to do was to get out and about on my motorbike again. I picked it up from Cam’s house on Saturday. When I was last in Perth it was involved in a hit and run (Luckily I wasn’t on it - it was parked) and it was quite badly scratched on one side from where it had fallen over. The weekend was the first time I had seen it since it had been returned from the repair shop and… wow! They have completely replace all of the faring on the bike, both of the wing mirrors and the exhaust! Guess they made the most of their opportunity to have the insurance company pay for work that could be done to make the bike pristine…

These are two photos of the bike down by the river in two seperate spots in Applecross, about 10~ minutes ride from my house. Took them on Sunday after a very enjoyable lunch with Pip and Kiata :)

Had a chance this evening to fish out the cables for the video camera and it is currently ripping all the video footage off onto my computer. Over the next few evenings I hope to get some of it edited and in a form worth watching.

Back in Perth…

Saturday, December 6th, 2008

As of yesterday afternoon I am back in Perth. Finished the drive yesterday. We videoed most of the road trip and I look forward to sharing it when I have had a chance to edit the video together :)

Being back in Perth comes the processing of hundreds of emails. Thankfully there are a few funny non-work related emails in there… like this one:

MESSAGE TO THE AUSTRALIAN PUBLIC

The federal government is sending each and every one of us a $600 rebate.

If we spend that money at K-Mart, the money will go to China .

If we spend it on petrol it will go to the Arabs, if we purchase a computer it will go to Taiwan,

If we purchase fruit and vegetables it will go to Mexico, Honduras, and Guatemala,

If we purchase a good car it will go to Japan,

If we purchase useless crap it will go to Korea and none of it will help the Australian economy.

The only way to keep that money here at home is to spend it on prostitutes and beer, since these are the only products still produced in Australia .

Thank you for your help.

Kevin Rudd & Wayne Swan .
